Chuck Close Adapatations, 2005-2006 (11)
Most of these paintings are from my two years at grad school (2003 - 2005). The project involved taking an iconic painting -- Chuck Close's 1968 self portrait -- and making a series of adaptations from it: colour and paint-application experiments, mirror images, flower additions, finger painting (on the paintings of myself as Chuck Close). -
Salon Boys, 2007 (8)
This was a show in Kitchener, Ontario in 2007. These paintings are based on images of men from an online dating site. These are the men I did not choose and did not contact. The goal was to develop some compassion for them and myself (online dating is no picnic) through painting their portraits. -
Plate Paintings, 1998 (3)
This series helped me learn to paint different surfaces. Conceptually, I was intrigued by the relationship between body and object, and the implied consumption. -
Older Work (1997- 2000) (8)
This album spans a number of different bodies of work, from 1997 - 2002.
